India on Friday recorded 1,32,364 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections to 2,85,74,350, according to Union Health Ministry’s daily Coivd-19 report.
Besides, the country also saw 2,713 deaths, pushing the total number of fatalities to 3,40,702. The death toll stands at 1.19 per cent.
Daily recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for 22 consecutive days, as 2,07,071 patients recuperated during the past 24 hours, pushing the number of recoveries to 2,65,97,655. With these new recoveries, recovery rate jumped to 93.08 per cent.
Now, active caseload further declined by 77,420 to stand at 16,35,993, less than 2 lakh since 8 successive days, shows the data.
Meanwhile, weekly positivity rate is currently pegged at 7.27 per cent.
Daily positivity rate grew from 6.21 per cent to 6.38 per cent, less than 10 per cent for the 11th consecutive day, the Ministry added.
So far, the country has carried out more than 35.7 crore tests.
According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 35,74,33,846 tests have been conducted so far, 20,75,428, of which were carried out in the past 24 hours.
