India recorded 1,20,529 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the lowest in 58 days, taking the total number of infections to 2,86,94,879, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.
Besides, the country also saw 3,380 deaths, pushing the total number of fatalities to 3,44,082. Yesterday, India saw 2,713 deaths.
Daily recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for 23 consecutive days, as 1,97,894 patients recuperated during the past 24 hours, pushing the number of recoveries to 2,67,95,549. With these new recoveries, recovery rate jumped to 93.38 per cent.
Now, active caseload further declined by 80,745 to stand at 15,55,248, less than 2 lakh since 9 successive days, shows the data.
Meanwhile, weekly positivity rate is currently pegged at 6.89 per cent.
Daily positivity rate decreased to 5.78 per cent, less than 10 per cent for the 12th consecutive day, the Ministry added.
So far, the country has carried out more than 36.1 crore tests.
According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 36,11,74,142 tests have been conducted so far, 20,84,421, of which were carried out in the past 24 hours.
