New Delhi: The central government has introduced new guidelines for obtaining Aadhaar cards, allowing individuals to acquire them without requiring fingerprint and iris scanning.
Under these guidelines, individuals unable to obtain Aadhaar through fingerprint scanning can opt for iris scanning, and vice versa. Moreover, those facing challenges with both methods can now apply for Aadhaar separately through software.
This alternative process involves recording essential details such as name, gender, address, date of birth, and photograph into the software. Special provision has been made to issue such special Aadhaar in these cases. Additionally, there is a directive to provide training to Aadhaar Enrollment Operators for this purpose.
This development follows the case of Jesimol from Kumarakam, Kottayam, who encountered difficulty in obtaining Aadhaar due to fingerprint-related issues. Union Minister of State for IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, assured Jesimol that her Aadhaar would be facilitated at the earliest. Subsequently, a team from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) visited Jesimol’s residence in Kumarakam and successfully allocated her Aadhaar number.
