COVID-19 cases continuing to rise in Kerala, the government has ramped up testing and over 90,000 samples were examined in the last 24 hours, as 5,610 new COVID-19 cases were recorded.
The toll climbed to 3,832 with the addition of 19 fatalities, while the total virus caseload mounted to 9,56,421 and active cases stood at 67,795. As many as 6,653 people recovered from the infection, taking the total recoveries to 8,84,542.
In the last 24 hours ending at 2 pm today, 91,931 samples were tested and the test positivity rate has come down to 6.10 per cent.
Among the districts, Ernakulam recorded 714 new cases, Kozhikode 706, Malappuram 605 and Pathnamthitta 521.
At least 2,15,653 people are under observation in various districts, including 10,960 in hospitals.
