Thiruvananthapuram: There is a change in the rain forecast in the state. Alert messages are issued in 11 districts excluding Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta. Apart from this, orange alert has been issued in 3 districts including Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod and yellow alert in 8 districts.
There are chances of heavy rain in the afternoon and northern districts are likely to receive more rainfall. The intensive monsoon rains are due to the low pressure formed over Odisha and low pressure trough extending from Maharashtra coast to Karnataka coast. Due to the possibility of severe storm the fishermen have been warned to not venture to the sea.
This is the 3rd low pressure that formed in this season. The IMD has given an alert that there is a high chance to get intensive rainfall in the coming days.
