S. Harpal Singh Cheema, the Excise Minister of Punjab, paid a visit to Kerala with the objective of studying the operations of liquor shops in Kerala. During his stay, he focused on studying the intricate details of the Beverage Corporation of Kerala, including its administrative practices. A productive discussion took place between Harpal Singh and MB Rajesh, the Excise Minister of Kerala.
On social media, there has been viral trolling suggesting that the Kerala government is leading in promoting alcoholism. Interestingly, the Punjab minister’s visit coincides with other governments’ efforts to curtail alcohol consumption in light of the country’s progress.
The minister’s attention will be particularly drawn to examining the interconnection between the administration section and the retail and liquor distribution outlet chains. Furthermore, a meeting is scheduled with officials from the Excise Department to gain insights into various aspects of the liquor supply chain. It has been reported that discussions with high-ranking officials will continue until August 1.
In addition to engaging with officials, the Punjab Minister plans to personally visit beverage outlets to observe their operations firsthand. Following the news, there is a widespread allegation that Punjab will become NO.1 like Kerala.
