BJP National Vice President A. P. Abdullakutty expresses concerns over the demand made by a group of Muslim medical students to wear hijab and hand covering clothes inside the operation theatre. The students from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College have approached the Principal seeking permission for this attire while attending patients in the operation theatre.
Abdullakutty believes that these students have been influenced by external forces and may not fully understand the implications of their request. He suggests that the government should intervene and investigate the background of the students who made the demand.
Abdullakutty emphasizes that medical students are well aware of the necessity of a universal dress code in the operation theatre. He views this demand as a violation of medical ethics and the principles of the educational system. He calls upon the government to address the issue promptly.
In a strong statement, Abdullakutty asserts that medical courses are not conducted in madrasas and advises those who wish to strictly adhere to specific Muslim dress codes to either discontinue their education or seek opportunities in Afghanistan, where such practices are more common. In Afghanistan, students do not aspire to pursue education and spend their entire lives confined by the restrictions of wearing a hijab. He also urges the responsible members of the Muslim community in Kerala to voice their opposition to this demand.
