Aluva: When the whole of Kerala is shocked and in uproar over the gruesome sexual assault and murder of a five-year-old girl girl, the state’s Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, is silent on the issue. He has not responded about the murder even after the mortal remains of the child has been laid to rest.
The Chief Minister’s social media pages do not have any mention of the little girl’s murder. His silence is surprising as criticisms are being raised against the police for its lapse in saving the child. The CM handles the home ministry portfolio and is responsible to answer the questions raised against the police.
The silence of the Chief Minister has raised widespread criticisms.
In addition, the Higher Education Minister, R Bindu, when asked about why no minister accompanied the funeral of the child, she replied by asking if it is necessary that ministers must reach everywhere.
She also added that it was thought that ministers who have the responsibility of the district would attend the funeral. The minister said that there has been no lapse from the part of the police.
Though, the police had arrested the accused, a migrant worker named Afsaq on the day the girl went missing, they could not find her body till the next day. The police had failed in getting information from Afsaq and got misled by the accused statements. The security force also failed in saving the girl on time after she was kidnapped from near her house by Afsaq.
BJP leader K Surendran said that it has become difficult to live in Kerala safely. He also said that the government did not have any information regarding the migrant workers coming into the state. He warned that soon Kerala will turn into Bengal.
