Thiruvananthapuram: The BJP State President, K Surendran, criticized and poked fun at Minister Saji Cherian for tendering an apology within 24 hours for saying that he did not hear Azan in Saudi Arabia. Surendran criticized the double standard of the communist party when it comes to Hindu beliefs and minority beliefs.
K Surendran said that Saji Cherian did not even need 24 hours to say sorry for the issue. Even though Saji Cherian’s speech had no insult to Islam or the prophet, he had to withdraw his statement.
The BJP leader reminded that the Speaker, AN Shamseer, is still standing by his statements against Lord Ganapathi.
Minister Saji Cherian in a speech had said that when he went to Saudi Arabia for a visit, he did not hear the Azan and that it surprised him. When he inquired about it someone told that if Azan is heard outside then it would attract repercussions.
However, the Minister had to withdraw his statement when he faced cyber attacks. He said that he made the remarks on the basis of wrong information he got from someone.
Saji Cherian also appealed to people to realize the truth behind the issue and not to misunderstand him.
