Kannur: ABVP State Secretary NCT Sreehari has lodged a complaint with Union Minister for Women & Child Development and Minister for Minority Affairs Smriti Irani regarding the incident where SFI activists locked a ABVP woman activist in a dark room. The girl, who is a first year graduate student at Kannur Government Polytechnic College, was locked in the dimly lit classroom for several hours.
The ABVP had conducted a protest march to the college when no action was taken against the culprits despite the student lodging a complaint. ABVP had said that it will continue with the protests until strong action is taken against the culprits. But the ABVP workers who protested by sitting on the road were arrested and removed by the police.
SFI activists had locked a student Aradhana in a dark room the other day in connection with the distribution of ABVP membership at Kannur Government Polytechnic College. Following this, the student lodged a formal complaint with the college principal. As However, due to a delay in taking action, she also reported the incident to the Superintendent of Police (SP). She said that she often experienced harassment by SFI activists from outside, and no one had intervened during such incidents. SFI workers also questioned her for tying Rakhi. She was not even allowed to go to the restroom. The student said that she will fight legally till strict action is taken against the culprits.
