Ernakulam: The Kalamassery bomb blast, which took place during a prayer meeting of Jehovah’s Witnesses, has claimed yet another victim, further increasing the death toll to four. The latest deceased has been identified as Molly Joy, a resident of Thaikkattukara in Aluva. Molly Joy succumbed to her injuries at Medical Centre Hospital Ernakulam early this morning, around 5:30 a.m.

The other deceased in the incident were identified as Leona Paulose (55) from Iringol, Perumbavoor, Kumari (53) from Kaliyar, Idukki, and Libina (12) from Malayattoor. Leona Paulose lost her life at the scene of the blast, while Kumari and Libina passed away while receiving medical treatment.

19 individuals who sustained injuries during the explosion are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals, with ten of them in the intensive care unit (ICU) and nine in regular wards. One of the injured remains in critical condition.

The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court is expected to consider the police’s request for the custody of the accused, Dominic Martin, today. Police have sought a seven-day custody period for Martin, who is the sole individual currently charged in connection with the incident.

The Kalamassery bomb blast, which rocked the international convention center on October 29, occurred during the concluding day of a three-day prayer meeting hosted by Jehovah’s Witnesses, a minority Christian group.
