Wayanad: An investigation is underway following the seizure of weapons from communist terrorists in Bathery, Wayanad. During a recent encounter in Chapparam colony, Wayanad, the police discovered four firearms from the communist terrorists. Notably, these firearms included INSAS rifles. The Indian Army has been utilising the INSAS rifle, transitioning from the AK-47. Initial findings suggest that these weapons may have been sourced from the central hubs of communist terrorists in other states.
Questions have emerged regarding how the weapons made their way into Kerala. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) M.R. Ajith Kumar has highlighted the growing presence of Communist terrorists in five other districts including Kannur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad.
The police have questioned two individuals, identified as Chandru and Unnimaya, who were apprehended during the encounter. Both are affiliated with the Banasura Dalam, yet they have been reticent about providing further information about the weapons.
