Thiruvananthapuram: To save face amid allegations that the police connived with SFI criminals to attack the governor, the police had taken the accused into custody yesterday. It is reported that five of the arrested persons were released on police station bail. The arrest of seven people had been recorded in the incident so far.
Though the charges on the assailants include obstruction of official execution, the only reference in the FIR is that the SFI activists stopped the vehicle. However, the youth Congress activists who protested against the Chief Minister’s motorcade in Perumbavoor were charged with attempted murder by the police.
Kerala police is being accused of protecting the SFI criminals who attacked Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan in the capital city. Yesterday, there were attacks on the governor while the Governor was on his way from Raj Bhavan to the airport. It is reported that the attacks happened with the connivance of the police. The information that comes out suggests the tacit consent of the police that was given to the SFI on the incident.
In a planned attack near Palayam University College last night, the SFI goons rushed towards the Governor’s vehicle, surrounded and attacked it. During the chaos, the Governor came out of the car and lashed out against the negligence of the police on doing their duty. The Governor said that the SFI goons tried to attack him and this attack was with the knowledge of the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Raj Bhavan may seek a report from the government on the SFI protests and attack on the Governor. The central government may also ask for a report. The City Police Commissioner will give a report to the ADGP today including the footage of the protest.
