Thiruvananthapuram: The central government has sought a report on the continuous attacks against Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. The Center has sought a report from the Chief Secretary V Venu on matters including the Governor’s security. But the State Police Chief Sheikh Darvesh Sahib said that the police did not falter in ensuring the Governor’s security.
There was no failure on the part of Police in providing adequate security to the Governor, he said. The DGP said that the situation got worse because the Governor got out of the car when the SFI activists came with a black flag protest. The DGP also stated that a report has been handed over to the Home Department regarding the incident.
The unfolding of these events happened following an incident this morning, where a group of SFI activists rushed towards the Governor’s vehicle with black flags. Dealing with continuous attacks from the SFI over some time, the Governor got out of the car and directly confronted the attackers.
Meanwhile, the CRPF has taken over the security of the Governor and the Raj Bhavan. 30 jawans of the Pallipuram CRPF camp have taken over the responsibility of protecting the Raj Bhavan. In the wake of continuous attacks on the Governor by SFI goons, the Union Home Ministry issued an order to provide Z+ security to Kerala Raj Bhavan and Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. The Home Ministry ordered the security of the Raj Bhavan and the Governor’s Office to be handed over to the CRPF. Following this order, the CRPF took charge of the security.
