Thiruvananthapuram: 12 SFI activists are remanded for 14 days in police custody in the incident of trying to attack Governor Arif Mohammed Khan at Nilamel. This is following the order of the Court of First Class Judicial Magistrate, Kadakkal.
Non-bailable sections were imposed for obstructing the Governor’s duties. A case has been registered against the SFI activists including women by the Chadayamangalam police under Sections 143, 144, 147, 283, 353, 124, 149 of the IPC.
The Governor had directed the police to file a case against all protesters and send a copy of the FIR immediately. The Governor also scolded the police for not bringing a bus to arrest the protesters.
Around 12 pm today, a group of SFI activists rushed towards the Governor’s vehicle waving black flags at Nilamel, Kollam. When they tried to attack the vehicle, the Governor came out of the vehicle and confronted the attackers.
