Palakkad: Former MP and actor Suresh Gopi has extended helping hand to a 92-year-old woman and her daughter, whose welfare pension has been suspended in Akathethara. Suresh Gopi announced that he will personally provide them with a monthly pension until the government reinstates their pension. He also appealed for an end to their strike.
The 92-year-old woman and her daughter began their protest yesterday morning, decrying the government’s failure to disburse welfare pensions. They are staging their protest on a cot put outside the Akathethara panchayat office, with the 92-year-old mother, Padmavati, and her 67-year-old daughter, Indira, demanding fair treatment from the Kerala government.
Both stated that they are protesting against the non-payment of pension even after six months, expressing their inability to sustain their livelihoods without the pension payments. They have vowed to continue their strike until a resolution is reached.
