Ernakulam: A fire erupted at the Brahmapuram waste management plant on Wednesday. Efforts to extinguish the flames are currently underway, with the deployment of multiple units from the fire brigade team to the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated from unsorted garbage within the facility. The fire brigade has mobilised four units to tackle the flame and prevent its further spread.
The fire was initially spotted near the river around 2:20 pm yesterday before rapidly spreading to other areas of the plant. Residents in the area have reported seeing smoke come out of the dump for the past four days. In response to the emergency, two units of fire brigade personnel have been stationed at the plant around the clock to manage the situation. Despite these efforts, the fire broke out.
