The Indian Women’s League, scheduled to be held in Odisha later this month, have been postponed indefinitely due to the rising COVID-19 cases in the state, the All India Football Federation announced on Tuesday (April 6).
The Indian football governing body said that it will take a decision on the fate of the tournament at a later date.
‘Based on request and discussion with Odisha Sports over the rising number of Covid19 cases in the state and adhering to the covid19 guidelines of the Government of Odisha along with keeping in mind the safety and security of the players and officials, the Indian Women’s League scheduled to be held in Odisha later this month has been postponed until further notice,’ the AIFF said in a statement.
Earlier on Sunday, AIFF had also indefinitely postponed the play-off matches of the same tournament, which were to be held in Delhi from April 7-14. Odisha reported 588 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.
