Dharamshala: Indian captain Rohit Sharma and rising star Shubman Gill amassed centuries during the fifth and final Test match in Dharamshala. Adopting an aggressive ODI-style approach, the duo posed a formidable challenge to the England bowlers.
Rohit Sharma reached his century milestone in 154 balls, while Shubman Gill achieved his century in just 137 balls. This marked Rohit’s 12th century in his illustrious career and Gill’s fourth.
As the second day’s play progressed, Bharat gained a significant lead of 46 runs over England before the lunch break. Gill remained unbeaten with 101 runs to his credit, while Rohit contributed 102 runs at the crease. Bharat asserted their dominance, posting a commanding total of 264 runs for the loss of only one wicket. Earlier, Bharat lost the wicket of Jaiswal, who had scored 57 runs.
England’s first inning came to a close as they were bowled out for 218 runs. The Indian spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav, who claimed five wickets, and Ravichandran Ashwin, who secured four wickets, dismantled the English batting lineup. Zach Crowley emerged as England’s top scorer with 79 runs.
