Delhi Police have deployed more security personnel and taken additional security measures at Tikri, Ghazipur and Singhu borders, after the tractor parade violence incident on Republic Day. Security measures like multi-layered barricading, concertina wires, had come up along with iron nails cemented on roads around the protest site
Farmers at Ghazipur on the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border planted flower saplings along a road stretch, saying it was their response to iron nails fixed in the area by the police. A bigger plantation drive was also underway on another road stretch nearby.
“The police had fixed iron nails for farmers but we have decided to plant flowers for them,” Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait said.
“This is our way of saying that we are on the path of peaceful demonstration,” said farmers who were planting the saplings.
