Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has updated its rain warning for the state, indicating a possibility of widespread heavy rains in various districts today. A Yellow alert has been issued in response to this heavy rain forecast, covering 10 districts. The districts under the Yellow alert are Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
Furthermore, the IMD forecasts continuous rain in the state over the next five days. Tomorrow, a Yellow alert is in place for Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, and Palakkad. On Friday, this alert extends to Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki.
Fishermen and coastal residents are advised to exercise caution. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has alerted to the possibility of high waves and storm surges along the Kerala coast tomorrow night. Authorities recommend avoiding danger areas, as the sea is expected to become rough and potentially hazardous.
