Bharatiya Janata Party candidate “Metro Man” Elattuvalapil Sreedharan on Sunday lost to Congress leader Shafi Parambil in Palakkad constituency of Kerala by a margin of 3,859 votes, according to the data from Election Commission.
Sreedharan maintained a lead in many of the 17 rounds but Pirayiri, Mathur and Kannadi panchayats came to the rescue of Congress candidate.
As an MLA candidate in Palakkad, Sreedharan’s promises included increasing jobs in the constituency, and bringing in more industries and development.
